October was a month of strong collaboration and visible progress for JA PreventNCD. Across Europe, partners advanced policy innovation, strengthened communication, and translated evidence into action.
From the launch of the Wellbeing Economy Toolbox to high-level events in Denmark, new policy briefs, and scientific publications, the project continues to drive prevention forward across Europe.
Introducing the Wellbeing Economy Toolbox
We’re proud to announce the launch of the Wellbeing Economy Toolbox, a dynamic platform connecting health, equity, and sustainability through policy innovation.
Developed by the team working on the Wellbeing Economy, the toolbox helps policymakers, civil society, and researchers integrate wellbeing at the centre of decision-making.
A webinar introducing the Toolbox will be held on 17 November 2025 — stay tuned for registration details on our website and social media.
Strengthening Tobacco Control and Protecting Public Health
Twenty years after the EU ratified the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), progress continues — but industry interference remains a growing challenge.
Our latest policy brief, Sustainable Tobacco Control, calls for stronger safeguards, systematic monitoring, and transparency to protect policymaking from tobacco and nicotine industry influence.
This aligns closely with WHO/Europe’s forthcoming report launch on 4 November 2025 and the priorities of COP11 in Geneva.
Walking the Talk at the European Health Forum Gastein
On 1 October, JA PreventNCD joined the Prevent NCD Walk at the European Health Forum Gastein, organised by the Austrian National Public Health Institute. Participants discussed how Europe can better prevent non-communicable diseases — walking and talking through the scenic Kurpark of Bad Hofgastein.
The event underscored that health is created in our environments and everyday choices, not only in healthcare systems.
Denmark Focus: Communication and Collaboration in Action
October was an especially active month in Denmark, with a series of events connecting communication, evidence, and policymaking.
Strengthening Health Communication in Europe At UN City, Copenhagen, teams from JA PreventNCD, JACARDI, and WHO/Europe explored how storytelling, trust, and collaboration can amplify public health messages.
Building Bridges from Evidence to Policy In Vejle and Odense, JA PreventNCD and the Region of Southern Denmark hosted two events linking research, communication, and policy to strengthen Europe’s prevention agenda.
