28th and 29th of January 2026 marked an important step in the development of the Sustainability work package of JA PreventNCD, as the WP4 Core Team met with the Coordination, and Dissemination and Communication Team in Ljubljana for an in-person meeting at the National Institute of Public Health. The two days provided an opportunity for more in-depth discussions, alignments, and strategic reflections on the Sustainability current and future milestones in the Joint Action.
The first day of the event was dedicated to reviewing progress and activities of WP4 on Sustainability, including the Methodology for evaluation of practices, desk research on the Sustainability of other joint actions, etc. The most time was focused on a comprehensive review of the work on the Sustainability Plan, including the discussions regarding the EU Semester, NCDs legislative framework, and inputs from Executive Committee members, Task leads, and Competent Authorities. At the end of the project, this milestone will develop into comprehensive guidelines for action to the European Commission and national and regional authorities.
In the second day, the focus of discussions was shifted into strategic brainstorming for the next steps in the implementation of the EU CNCD Prevention body, its future vision and governance options, as well as continued discussions around the Sustainability Plan, the Wellbeing Economy, and the strategic communication with WP4 relevant actors in the EU space.
The Slovenian WP4 team is grateful to all participants of the meeting for strategic discussions, shared expertise, knowledge, and insights.
