Investing in Reducing Health Inequalities is Investing in Development

Mojca Speaks

On 30 January 2026, a national event titled “Investing in Reducing Health Inequalities is Investing in Development” took place at the Brdo Congress Centre in Slovenia. The event addressed health inequalities, featuring contributions from representatives of the Ministry of Health, the National Institute of Public Health, WHO Europe and EuroHealthNet.

Discussions focused on translating data and evidence into effective cross-sectoral action to reduce health gaps, including those related to cancer and other non-communicable diseases. As part of the programme, a pilot titled Platform for Cross-Sectoral Collaboration on Health Inequalities was presented by dr. Mojca Gabrijelčič Blenkuš.

The pilot, which is part of the task T7.4 of the JA PreventNCD, builds on earlier interdisciplinary cooperation and aims to establish a sustainable, formalized infrastructure for joint research, data harmonisation, and coordinated action to reduce health and social inequalities. At the event, the social inequalities calendar, published under the umbrella of the JA, as well as a project booth were also available, providing strong opportunities for participants to familiarize themselves with the project aims, outputs and current work, tied to the theme on social inequalities.
