BreastFEEDucation – new e-learning course in breastfeeding counselling coming soon

BFEEDUCATION

BreastFEEDucation is a new, free e-learning course in breastfeeding counselling developed for healthcare professionals and students in midwifery, public health nursing, medicine and related disciplines. The course is based on WHO/UNICEF recommendations and the Baby-Friendly standards, and provides a shared, evidence-based foundation for high-quality breastfeeding support in both community and hospital settings.

The course consists of modular learning with expert-led videos, clinical case studies, reflection tasks and knowledge tests. It is designed for use in both pre-service education and continuing professional development. BreastFEEDucation has been developed as part of the EU Joint Action PreventNCD and builds on the Norwegian programme AmmE-læring, which is already widely used in health services in Norway.

The course is expected to be launched in February. Links to the learning platform and resources will be shared in late February.

The overall aim is to strengthen professional competence in breastfeeding counselling and to promote more coherent and equitable support for families across Europe.
